The History
In 1957, in Fucecchio, Guglielmo Testai laid the foundations of what would become one of the leading tanneries in the World. The company original name was “Conceria G. Testai”, but in 1973 the amazing success of an exclusive hand-antiqued product, called “Vecchia Toscana”, led the company to no longer identify itself with the name of its founder, but with this particular type of leather.
From the beginning the company has carefully dedicated itself to the selection of the best raw hides and to the perfection of each processing phase. The goal is to produce luxury and quality leather to satisfy a demanding clientele, attentive to quality without compromise.
In the decades following its foundation, the company expanded its production premises several times, to meet the growing demand from foreign markets, until the construction of the current production plant at the end of the 1970s.
In recent years the company has transformed into Gruppo Vecchia Toscana S.p.A, with the acquisition in 2014 of the historic ILCEA tannery, specialized in the production of high quality calfskin for footwear, and with the creation of the Multipel division, specialized in casual and innovative products.
Thanks to the company philosophy based on the values of quality, expertise and Made in Italy, today Gruppo Vecchia Toscana is recognized as a leader in the sector of fine leather production, a point of reference for its know-how and the quality of its products. Achieving this goal was possible thanks to the constant commitment to the search for excellence in industrial processes, in the quality of the products and in the service offered.
